By Graham Clark in The Yorkshire Times.
The future of the Bradford Odeon moved a step closer yesterday to becoming transformed into a live music venue as the NEC Group International, the company behind the Birmingham NEC, was announced as the operator of the new music venue, which is due to open in 2020.
They will be the partner with Bradford Live, the group that has campaigned hard over the past 3 years to secure the Odeon’s future, taking out a 30 year lease on the building and investing 2 million towards the renovation work which will be needed to turn the venue into one of the best medium sized venues in the country outside of London.
As well as the main auditorium, the magnificent 1930’s Art Deco ballroom will be fully restored to its original splendour to host music gigs, weddings, banquets, corporate events and conferences and other live performances.
