Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, is a condition many consider to be rare, but the reality is, it’s simply massively underdiagnosed.
However, experts are seeing a huge spike in the number of cases of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in people who have battled Covid-19 and this is set to rise further.
Even less is known and spoken about the condition in children, so much so, that despite suffering from the condition herself, Dublin mum, Sarah O’Connell had no idea it was something that could hit children, until her own daughter fell ill when she was just seven years old.
“Hayley started showing symptoms two years ago, however unlike many other kids who get this, she didn’t have an illness beforehand”, Sarah explains.
