The Bateman Horne Center of Excellence is leading the way in the medical advancement and treatment of and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Fibromyalgia. More than 5 million people in the US are affected by ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia—more than those with MS, lupus or many forms of cancer—yet only $15 million in combined federal dollars across all agencies is dedicated to researching these diseases. The result is a wide research and medical literature gap that has left no standard diagnostic tests and has fueled misunderstanding and disinformation among the medical community. Widespread lack of medical knowledge means that only a fraction of sufferers are diagnosed and their diseases are exacerbated with few viable treatment options.
Bateman Horne Center is squarely targeted on bringing these diseases to the mainstream. Our powerful combination of an active and specialized medical center with an innovative research program, under one roof, allows us to most effectively focus on the discovery of biomarkers. Biomarkers will improve diagnosis and treatment, putting us on a pathway to a cure.
