From Solve ME/CFS Initiative.
I was an elementary school music teacher, community volunteer, church pianist, wife, and young mother when I became ill in March, 2000.
My doctor said I had mono and I was totally bed bound. The sickness wiped away my memory and I lost memories of my children as babies, toddlers, and lost many memories of their childhood.
My children were 4 and 9 when I got sick and I was unable to leave the house very much because of my illness. I was diagnosed with ME/CFS and lost my ability to work.
Six years later, I tried to work part time because the strict rest schedule I was prescribed improved my functionality. I lost all functionality 6 years later from pushing myself to work while going through bad drug reactions.
