A mother has been left bedbound for more than 10 years by ME so severe at times she is not even able to talk.
Former nursery manager Carol Davis used to be an active person who loved travelling, shopping, and going to parties.
But that all changed when she was struck down with myalgic encephalomyelitis, more commonly known as ME, which she said has left her unable to leave her house.
The 54-year-old said the fatigue caused by her condition was sometimes so severe that she cannot talk, walk, and needs to use a commode.
“It has destroyed my life,” said Carol, who lives in the Coryton area of Cardiff.
“My bed is like my office. I cannot cook for myself, change my bed, or do my own washing. My partner does everything for me.
“I have packets of jellies and bananas by the side of my bed as I can’t get out of bed.
“I have not been outside my house since last summer. I used to love shopping in Cardiff city centre but I don’t think I’ve been there for 15 years.”
Carol, originally from Ystrad Mynach , said she experienced her first ME symptoms following the birth of her daughter in 1995.
