Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), can affect anyone, even children. Fibromyalgia is a related disease that affects the joins in the body, causing excruciating pain. CFS/ME is most common in women and tends to develop between your mid-20s and mid-40s. Famous celebrities, such as 71-year-old Cher and 80-year-old Morgan Freeman suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, which they describe as exhausting and painful.
There is much debate among medical professionals to what causes CFS/ME as the cause is unknown, but there are many theories that range from a viral-infections to intensive stress. Unfortunately, there is no single test that diagnoses CFS/ME, but some experts believe that CFS/ME can be triggered by a combination of factors. CFS/ME can affect the brain, gastrointestinal, immune and cardiac systems.
