York A-Board Ban Starts This Week

A Boards

From Local Link.

From 1 February there will be no more A-boards seen across York’s city centre.

All A-boards on footpaths within the inner ring road will be banned for a year (initially).

Micklegate will be the only exception, where businesses can still apply for a licence.

The decision was made following a scrutiny review in 2013 which saw that the obstruction of footpaths was a real problem for those who were blind or partially sighted.

In 2015 the council was tasked with developing a new policy for York.
