From Minster FM News.
Many more people in York will be able to receive vital support and help, after a local charity received lottery funding.
York Neighbours, which provides practical help and support to people aged over 65, has received £40,000 a year for the next three years allowing it to expand its services.
The charity now hopes to reach more people all over the city and is also inviting more people to sign up as volunteers to help meet the growing demand.
David Casswell, Chair for York Neighbours said:
“We are determined to use this grant to develop the service so that more people can benefit. Our Neighbours appreciate being covered for small jobs, receiving regular phone calls and having occasional outings. Our volunteers are delighted with the opportunities to help. We look forward gratefully!”
