Ice skaters can look forward to an afternoon of fun at an Acomb pub later this month when it stages the area’s first mobile rink.
Matt Sidebottom, landlord of the Carlton Tavern in Acomb Road, said a rink measuring about 12 metres by 12 metres and using artificial ice would be set up as part of a ‘winter festival on ice’ in the grounds of the pub between noon and 6pm on Wednesday, December 30.
He said there would also be fun fair rides, stalls and mulled wine.
Matt, who has run the pub for the past decade, said the pub’s gardens were used extensively in the summer, for example for barbecues, and the idea was to make use of them in the winter as well.
