York’ official remembrance service and parade will be held in the Memorial Gardens on Leeman Road today.
The main parade departs from the Clifford’s Tower at 10.30am and marches to the Memorial Gardens, and will include serving military personnel from all the services and regiments from across the city, along with civilian organisations, including Scouts, Guides and St John Ambulance.
There will be a two minute silence followed by prayers and wreath laying by representatives of organisations from across the city, including the Lord Mayor of York and the Lord Lieutenant for North Yorkshire, who will also review the ex-services associations who are on parade.
The band of the Yorkshire Regiment will provide the music for the ceremony and the parade.
