St George’s Field Car Park, York.
Radar Key required. Reasonably good for wheelchair access. Shortest red emergency cord I’ve come across. I have contacted the company concerned to highlight the need to fix asap.
Nunnery Lane Car Park
Radar Key required. Reasonable access although I can’t comment on suitability for wheelchair users. Small café and lots of parking at same site.
St Leonard’s Place, York.
I was unable to get in here because from what I could see from the pavement, there were barriers and an entrance fee of 40 pence. As I was short of time and 40 pence, I’m unable to give a full report but thought it worth mentioning that it’s there. I’ll update when I can.
Mark & Spencer, York.
One of three Disabled Facilities in M&S York. All on third floor, but there are lifts. Happy to see the red emergency cord actually reaching the floor !
Novotel hotel just off Fishergate in York. About 500 yards from the city centre. Nice and clean. Can’t comment on measurements or ease for a wheelchair user as I don’t have one. All level access from outside the building and easy to find. The red emergency cord was a foot off the floor so I mentioned it to reception. The young lady said she would pass my comment to the duty manager.
Silver Street, York
This facility is located on Silver Street, just off the market and close to The Shambles, so pretty central in York. I wasn’t able to measure but it looked ok for wheelchair access, although not being a user, I’m open to comment. Disappointed to see that the card saying the red emergency cord should reach the floor was attached to the the cord which doesn’t reach the floor ! The facility looks a little dated, but functional. Radar key required.
York Designer Outlet
There are three similar sets of facilities at the York Designer Outlet. The pictures are from the wheelchair accessible facility, although not being a wheelchair user I can’t confirm that it works well for such users. There is a Changing Places facility across the corridor which needs a radar key which I didn’t have with me at the time, but I’ll update on next visit.
