Marathon number 11 done at the beautiful Malta Marathon 2018! We started up in ancient Mdina and ran an overlapping first half of the course through the amazing countryside before turning towards the coast. After passing through a few small villages we arrived at the walled city of Valetta, the European Capital of Culture for 2018 before running along the waterfront to finish in tourist hot-spot Sliema. Malta is such a beautiful place and this was a great way to see it.
Coming off an Injury enforced month of no running I had no idea how this one would go. I really started feeling it at 8 miles and ground out another few to make it to halfway in 2:13 then had to walk the second half for a finish time of 5:10:48. Delighted to finish a race that I wasn’t even sure I’d start even though the runner in me never likes to post a slow time. Will be taking a few weeks off now as the body needs a proper rest. Well done to @MikesEUmaras for ticking off number 15 in style despite injury and a cold, my brother Jay for finishing his first ever marathon and Craig from EAMS for absolutely nailing it sub 3:25 after a sub 3:30 last week – proper running that!
Thanks for all your support and to Paul, RandP, Anonymous and Geoff for your extremely generous donations. If anyone would like to sponsor me for either the marathon or my next challenge, how the hell to get off a 7 foot plus bunked the say after a marathon the link is below.
Shout out to all the people with ME who are feeling as sore and tired as I am today because they spent a few minutes walking or met some friends for a rare coffee. ME is a horrible thing, I look forward to cures and treatments being found.
