Traders in York’s Fossgate are battling back from the devastating floods with plans for their first car-free festival of 2016.
Shops, cafes and other businesses which were inundated when the River Foss burst its banks on Boxing Day are gradually re-opening.
Now business owners are hoping to attract bumper custom on Sunday May 1, when all traffic will be banned from the city centre street.
They are promising live music and dance, with entertainment on the cards from 10am until 6pm.
