Celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager is returning to Malton’s annual Food Lovers festival for the third time in its eight-year history.
She will host an exclusive cookery tutorial, a live demonstration and a Q&A session in the Chef’s Demo Theatre.
Other big names coming to the festival include James Mackenzie, the Michelin-starred chef from the Pipe and Glass near Beverley, food writer and journalist Rose Prince and ‘another great Yorkshire talent’, Steph Moon.
There will also be a ‘Kitchen Question Time’ and the festival will feature an array of cookery demonstrations, talks and tastings, stalls and street food, a dedicated children’s zone, vintage fun fair, festival bar with live music and a new festival party.
The 8th annual festival, running on the weekend of May 28 and 29, is set to attract thousands of visitors to the Ryedale town, which has been dubbed Yorkshire’s Food Capital by esteemed chef Antonio Carluccio. The festival has grown significantly from its first year, when it attracted just 1,500 visitors.
Rosemary, who endeared herself to the nation when she took part in I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! and whose new show The Chopping Block begins on ITV1 on April 11, said: “What I love about Malton is the atmosphere, its passion for food and the incredible location. I jumped at the opportunity to come back this year and really can’t wait.”
Festival organiser Tom Naylor-Leyland said that with more stalls, chefs and food, he hoped visitors would enjoy the weekend more than ever and visit Malton time and time again.
“With British food gaining respect and popularity around the world, it is thrilling to be part of the Yorkshire food revival here in Malton,” he said.
The festival is free to enter with both free and ticketed events. For more information, go to www.maltonyorkshire.co.uk.
