Flood victims are set to enjoy all the fun of the circus next week when a big top opens its doors for a special show.
The Paulos Circus has agreed to hold a free performance in York to try to cheer up hundreds of people whose properties were inundated just after Christmas.
Up to 400 free seats are available for the show, which takes place at 6pm on Wednesday April 13 at Roko Health Club on Clifton Moor, a day before the circus opens to the paying public for four days,
Circus spokesman Kenny Darnell said: “We just wanted to give a little happiness to people who have been suffered during the flooding.”
