A young woman spent the last three years of her life bed-bound and in extreme pain as she wasted away from a disease some experts refuse to believe exists.
Merryn Crofts weighed less than 6st when she died on May 23 last year, 10 days after she turned 21.
She had suffered from severe myalgic encephalomyelitis – known as ME – a neurological illness which is said to affect as many as 17million people worldwide.
But despite the high number of cases, there are some experts within the medical profession who do not think the condition is real, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Her mother Clare has bravely told of her torture as she watched her daughter waste away, hoping the family’s nightmare will raise awareness of the crippling disease.
