One of the worldwide aims in ME Awareness Week has been to get public buildings to light up in blue on the 12th of May as a mark of support and recognition.
I wrote to York Minster in January, as well as contacting City of York Council asking if this could be done. York Minster declined and although I was told my request would be passed to the department concerned, the Council didn’t come back to me.
The UK has been put to shame by the likes of the USA and Australia in this activity. I have asked for pictures from across the world and I currently have some from Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Vancouver, Dublin, Houston, Niagra Falls and Portsmouth.
My aim is to gather these pictures to put to major UK landmarks as a great PR opportunity missed by them in the hope that they’ll come on board next year. If you come across any in your ‘travels’, please let me know. Thanks.
