Praise For Mum And Daughter Who Set Up Makeshift Café For Flood Victims

A mother and daughter who are still helping flood victims more than two months after York’s River Foss burst its banks have been nominated for the York & District Medal.

Michaela Robinson, 46, from Tang Hall, and her daughter Jade, 23, from Clifton, began serving hot food and drinks to people who had been flooded out of their homes in the Huntington Road area late in December.

They took over a facility which had originally been set up by scouts from Copmanthorpe, and gradually expanded the service.
