There is just over a week until round pound coins can no longer be used. When the clock strikes midnight on October 15, the round pound will be removed from circulation and the shiny new 12-sided pound coins will replace them.
The dodecagon design has been filtering in to currency for the last few months and an estimated 1.1 billion of the estimated 1.7billion round pound coins in circulation have already been returned. There is just over a week until the round pound stops being accepted in shops and restaurants. The Royal mint are encouraging the British public to spend, bank and donate the soon-to-be-withdrawn coin before the deadline.
